Our Team

Howard Schultz, Owner

Schultz opened the York County offices in May, 2003 after a successful career directing the growth and development of numerous entrepreneurial technology companies. The death of his dad the year prior prompted the career change, moving from “high tech” to “high touch.” He has won numerous awards for excellence and achievement from Home Instead Senior Care’s Home Office and serves on Home Instead Senior Care’s Franchise Exchange Council, a select owner-advisory board.

Caring Is What We Do

Our CAREGivers and our staff members have a real commitment to caring for seniors and derives personal satisfaction by responding to this critical need that is growing so rapidly.

Our CAREGiversSM Are at the Heart of It All

Our CAREGivers are residents of the local area who are carefully screened, fully bonded and insured. Each takes part in our exclusive multi-phase training and we place a high priority on matching our CAREGivers with our clients to help develop a bond that will foster independence, promote well being and support the senior’s needs with respect and dignity.

Biographies of the York County Team

Ann Vigeant, CAREGiver Services Director

Ann joined the company in August, 2005 and tells us she’s blessed to be able to work with such wonderful people who are Home Instead CAREGivers. We know our CAREGivers feel the same way towards her. A former CAREGiver herself, Ann understands the challenges and rewards of CAREGiving. In addition to supervising client care, scheduling, and HR functions, Ann directly manages the “CAREGiver Experience,” which seeks to nurture a community of caring professionals who are dedicated to creating outstanding relationships with the older adults they serve.

Debra Hackett, Client Care Manager

Debra is the first contact for seniors and their families seeking Home Instead services and directly manages many of Home Instead’s more challenging accounts. After a long, successful career in sales, marketing, and customer service that took her around the country and world, Debra turned to something dearer to her heart: eldercare. When she returned to her native Maine, Debra knew she found her calling when she joined Home Instead in March, 2010.

Fannie Hirst, Quality Assurance Coordinator

A former CAREGiver of the Year award winner, Fannie’s role has her working closely with CAREGivers and Clients to facilitate the creation of outstanding relationships between them, which is initiated by a personal introduction of CAREGiver to Client and is followed-up by regular quality assurance calls and visits. In her spare time, Fannie continues her lifelong passion of photography – her Biddeford business specializes in portraiture of young and old.

Teri Lapointe, Staffing Coordinator

Teri tells us she’s “coated with butter,” as nothing seems to faze her! A must-have trait for a staffing coordinator, The Saco resident made the transition into the office in the Fall, 2007, after providing care for a former client. Said the former client’s son when informed of Teri’s new position: “Dad got outstanding care from Teri – you couldn’t have picked a better person for your office.”

Kerry Betts, Facility Partner Administrator

In her role in facilitating Home Instead’s on-site presence in area facilities, staff, residents, and residents’ families appreciate Kerry’s welcoming smile, abundance of patience, and quiet confidence. Kerry tells us she feels privileged to be part of a great team of people who are sincerely dedicated to making the “Home Instead” experience successful for all.

Alisha Petrucci, Weekend Staff Coordinator

Alisha is a talented young woman who is working as both a CAREGiver and the weekend on-call representative while she completes her education to become a professional social worker. We know she’ll be successful in that career, as she performs her CAREGiving and administrative positions with maturity, responsibility, common sense, patience, and creativity.

Sarah Conley, Receptionist

After spending eight years in the In-Home Care care industry as an ophthalmic technician, Sarah decided it was time for a career change. She joined the Home Instead team in the fall of 2012 and is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful team which is providing such a valuable service. A Maine native, Sarah moved back and forth across the country a few times, but now happily resides in Kennebunk with her two young children.

Kathy Emmons, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Kathy grew up in Kennebunkport, Maine and moved all the way to Kennebunk, where she has lived all her married life, nearby to her three grown children and seven grandchildren. A well-known former business owner, Kathy is a Rotarian and is actively involved in many groups in the community.
